I am a microbial ecologist and data scientist at Phylagen in San Francisco, CA. I am fascinated by the many ways in which microbes influence our daily lives, including the health of our bodies and environment. I obtained my Ph.D. at the University of Idaho studying the diversity and dynamics of the human vaginal microbiome. I went on to postdoc at the Biology and the Built Environment Center at the University of Oregon, where I researched microbial relationships between human health and the built environment (featured on Science Friday, below).
